In a move straight out of the political playbook, a Republican-aligned nonprofit organization recently dropped an ad that spotlights Senator Jon Tester’s immigration track record. This ad comes hot on the heels of Tester’s decision to vote against the impeachment trial for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The ad, part of a $15.2 million ad campaign in Montana from the GOP-aligned group One Nation, takes aim at Tester’s immigration votes and accuses the Montana senator of supporting “Biden’s border disaster.” The ad, running statewide on television and digital platforms, criticizes Tester for voting against President Trump’s border wall and siding with President Biden to halt its construction.

Tester’s recent vote to dismiss the impeachment articles against Mayorkas was a centerpiece of the ad strategy. One Nation’s President and CEO, Steven Law, wasted no time condemning Tester’s actions, labeling them evidence of Tester’s “disregard for border security.” Talk about throwing shade!
With the Montana senator in the middle of a fierce Senate election matchup, his immigration record is under intense scrutiny, especially as he gears up to face former Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy in what is expected to be a nail-biting race. Let the political games begin!
But wait, there’s more! The ad wraps up by urging Tester to support the “Secure The Border Act,” a bill which would reignite border wall construction and reinstate the Trump administration’s Remain in Mexico policy. However, it’s worth noting that this bill failed to gain Democratic support in the House, so it seems like a bit of a political long shot.
And as if things couldn’t get any more dramatic, let’s not forget that the Senate Majority PAC, a group backing the Democrats, has also reserved a whopping $27 million in ads for Montana. Talk about a spending showdown!
