The House is gearing up for a big vote, y’all! They’re about to kick Rep. George Santos (R-NY) out of office, and it’s opening the floodgates for more booting of lawmakers. Whew, it’s getting spicy up in here!
Santos is putting up a big ol’ fuss about it, saying the Dems are setting a dangerous precedent by giving him the boot without any convictions. He even fired off his own resolution to kick out Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) just to cause some last-minute chaos on his way out the door. Talk about leaving a legacy, huh?
If Santos is expelled, he'll be the first to be removed w/o a conviction — raising concerns about a dangerous precedent.
Santos already filed his own motion to expel Dem Rep. Bowman, opening the door for more to utilize the historically rare mechanismhttps://t.co/h4xzK30rGP

Now, getting the boot from Congress is a pretty rare punishment, like finding a four-leaf clover in a field of weeds. The last time someone got the boot like this was way back in ’02, y’all! And if Santos gets the boot, he’ll be only the sixth ever to get the ol’ heave-ho from the House. Talk about making history!
Santos is waving around his clean record and saying this whole thing is just politics, but the Dems ain’t buying it. They’re saying that just because he hasn’t been convicted doesn’t mean he can’t get the boot. A lawyer Dem, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), is all like, “innocent until proven guilty? That doesn’t apply here, y’all!” Dang, that’s pretty harsh!
On the other side of the aisle, some GOP members are saying, “Hey, we gotta hold ourselves to a higher standard, y’all. We gotta do the right thing.” And they’re pretty confident the American people would give ’em a round of applause for it. They’re making it sound like taking out the trash, but in a fancy way. Talk about putting on a show!
But Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is raising some eyebrows, y’all. He’s saying, “Wait a minute, this could set a bad precedent,” and he ain’t the only one worried about it. The Republicans are doing some soul-searching, wondering if they’re opening up a can of worms with all this expulsion talk.
The vote is coming up real soon, and it looks like Santos already knows he’s about to become old news. If he’s kicked to the curb, that’s gonna throw the House GOP’s majority down to just three seats. That’s like losing your favorite shirt and finding out it’s the last one in the store! They might have to have a special election and everything. Whew, things are getting wild, y’all!
