The House of Representatives took a stand this week against President Joe Biden’s radical plan to transform federal lands into makeshift migrant camps for the massive influx of illegal aliens flooding into the country. With the passing of Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’s groundbreaking legislation, titled the “Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act,” the House has sent a powerful message to the Biden administration: federal lands are not up for grabs to house unlawful migrants.
In a nail-biting 224-203 vote, six Democrats had the remarkable courage to break party lines and stand alongside House Republicans in support of Malliotakis’s legislation. These renegade Democrats include Reps. Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, Jared Golden, Vicente Gonzalez Jr., Mary Peltola, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. Their bold move in defiance of their party’s stance shows that protecting American communities from the repercussions of unsecured borders is a bipartisan concern.

The legislation was a direct response to the alarming news that New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, both Democrats, had received approval from the Biden administration to relocate hundreds, possibly thousands, of illegal immigrants to Floyd Bennett Field, federal parkland originally used by the U.S. military. Malliotakis vehemently opposed this plan, rightly arguing that converting federal parks into migrant encampments is a slap in the face to hardworking taxpayers, as well as a threat to the safety and well-being of local communities.
The Biden administration, as reported by the reputable journalists at Breitbart News, shamelessly pressured Democrats to block the legislation, claiming it would encroach upon the powers of the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture. This blatant disregard for the will of the American people and their elected representatives is an egregious overreach of federal authority.
Under Biden’s disastrous policies, the Department of Homeland Security is recklessly releasing over 60,000 illegal aliens into American neighborhoods every single month. This reckless disregard for the rule of law and national sovereignty not only endangers the safety and security of American citizens but also burdens taxpayers with the astronomical costs of accommodating and providing for illegal immigrants.
It’s time for the Biden administration to wake up and recognize the dire consequences of their open borders agenda. The brave members of the House of Representatives who stood up to this madness have demonstrated that the fight to secure our borders and protect our communities transcends party lines. It’s a fight for the future of our nation, and it’s a fight worth fighting.
