Ilhan Omar’s Daughter Suspended After Pro-Hamas Campus Protest

In recent days, there have been demonstrations in support of Hamas at several universities across the United States. At Columbia University, some students were taken into custody and faced consequences for their participation, including Isra Hirsi, daughter of Minnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar. Isra Hirsi shared that she was suspended from her school, Barnard College, for her involvement in the pro-Hamas protests at Columbia’s campus.

Isra Hirsi, who is an organizer with CU Apartheid Divest @ColumbiaSJP, expressed her surprise at facing suspension, stating she had no prior disciplinary issues. She emphasized the commitment of the protestors to continue standing in solidarity with Palestinians despite the consequences they may face. Democrat Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib and New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also voiced their support for the students and criticized the disciplinary actions taken against them.

Ilhan Omar later joined her daughter at the pro-Hamas protest at Columbia University, commending the students for their peaceful demonstration in opposition to the conflict in Gaza. The conservative perspective would emphasize the need for universities to uphold discipline and order on campus, especially when it comes to activities that may promote or support terrorist organizations like Hamas. These protests raise concerns about potential disruptions to the academic environment and illustrate the need for schools to maintain a focus on education and respect for the rule of law.
