Joe Biden Announces Shocking Expansion of US Troops in Taiwan

President Joe Biden’s presidency has been marked by challenges, including mishandling the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and failing to deter Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Currently, Biden is focused on addressing China’s increasing aggression by boosting the presence of American service members in Taiwan. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Biden administration is planning to significantly increase the number of troops stationed in Taiwan by more than four times the current number to strengthen the island’s military training program. The U.S. aims to deploy between 100 and 200 troops to Taiwan in the near future, up from about 30 soldiers stationed there a year ago.

Biden’s decision to increase the number of American troops in Taiwan can be interpreted as an effort to demonstrate success on the global platform, following various setbacks. Nevertheless, Biden’s stance on safeguarding Taiwan from China has not been constant. While he stated in a September interview on “60 Minutes” that U.S. forces would defend Taiwan if China were to launch an attack, the White House subsequently refuted his statement and maintained the unchanged policy that the U.S. would provide Taiwan with support and training, but refrain from engaging in combat with China on Taiwan’s behalf.

President Joe Biden’s decision to increase the American military presence in Taiwan may suggest an attempt to rectify his prior foreign policy mistakes. However, his inconsistency in defending Taiwan against China raises doubts about his commitment. It is imperative that Biden adopts a decisive stance and unequivocally communicates that the U.S. will not condone any Chinese aggression towards Taiwan. The U.S. must exhibit unwavering determination and strength to deter China from further acts of aggression.

The conservative Republican base has long been an advocate for a strong foreign policy and a tough stance against China’s aggression. It is time for President Joe Biden to prove that he is capable of standing up to China and defending Taiwan against any potential aggression. The United States must show strength and resolve in order to protect our allies and deter any further aggression from China.
