Former aides to Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed presidential campaign are causing a ruckus by demanding that she intervene in the ongoing conflict between Israel and the irked Iranian-backed terrorists from Hamas. These ex-staffers have been busy gathering signatures and circulating a letter that urges Harris to “seek an immediate ceasefire.” How admirable of them to try and insert themselves into an international crisis that they have no business meddling in.
According to a draft letter obtained by Politico, these former aides express their condolences for the loss of Israeli lives but then proceed to accuse the Israeli government of using these deaths as an excuse to launch a “retaliatory and genocidal campaign against civilians.” Really? So, these armchair diplomats who couldn’t even win a campaign want to lecture one of our closest allies on how to handle its own security concerns?
Thankfully, the Biden administration has made it clear where it stands. President Joe Biden has demonstrated unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself from terrorist attacks. He even scrapped earlier versions of his speech on the matter that attempted to appease both sides. It’s about time someone in Washington had the backbone to stand up for Israel without caving to the pressure of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

Speaking of caving to pressure, it’s no surprise that some Democrats are once again showing their true colors when it comes to Israel. A recent Gallup poll revealed that a staggering 49% of Democrats now sympathize more with Palestinians than Israelis. This is a significant shift from previous years, where the numbers were far more balanced. It is disheartening to see members of the Democratic Party turn against one of our strongest allies and align themselves with a terrorist organization.
In the midst of all this, we have progressive members of Congress like Pramila Jayapal from Washington state criticizing Biden’s support for Israel and warning that it could hurt his chances with Democratic voters in the next election. It’s absurd to think that the safety and security of a vital ally would be jeopardized for the sake of appeasing the radical left of the party. Thankfully, the majority of Americans still recognize the importance of standing with Israel against those who wish to do harm.
Kamala Harris’s office declined to comment on this matter, and who can blame them? It’s embarrassing to have former aides stirring up trouble on her behalf. Perhaps they should focus their efforts on more productive endeavors, like learning how to run a successful campaign.
