Liz Cheney’s Social Media Rants Highlight Her Diminishing Relevance in GOP

Former Rep. Liz Cheney continues her futile endeavor to stay relevant in a party that has clearly moved on. Known for her anti-Trump stance, her disapproval of President Trump’s choice of Sen. JD Vance as his running mate came as no surprise, but her overly dramatic response was laughably predictable.

Cheney decided to dig up an old complaint from February about Vance, and took to social media to let the world know just how displeased she is. Her gripes centered around Vance’s comments on ABC News, where he allegedly suggested Trump could ignore Supreme Court rulings and seize power. Cheney called this “tyranny” and declared that neither Trump nor Vance were fit to serve.

The melodrama didn’t stop there. She claimed Vance would overturn elections, kowtow to Russia, and undermine the freedom of U.S. allies in Ukraine. But let’s face it: Vance is known for his America First stance, questioning unchecked aid to Ukraine under the Biden administration and advocating for prioritizing U.S. interests. Cheney’s wild accusations smell of desperation and are far removed from reality.

Whining that the Trump GOP is no longer the party of Lincoln, Reagan, or the Constitution, Cheney conveniently overlooks how frequently these iconic figures are mentioned at GOP conferences. Oh, and it’s worth noting that she didn’t get an invite to the Republican National Convention—a clear sign of her diminishing influence within the party.

While Cheney rages on social media, the sheer volume of replies and quoted reposts—over 10,000 in just a few hours—indicates that she’s trending for all the wrong reasons. And don’t forget, Cheney’s anti-Trump crusade cost her dearly; she lost her primary by nearly 40 points to Harriet Hageman. That’s what happens when you fight the tide of a party that’s overwhelmingly in favor of Trump.

Cheney’s continued attempts to paint the GOP as somehow hijacked by Trump are laughable. The reality is that Republicans have evolved, growing more tenacious and committed to putting America First. Her cries for attention might get her some likes and shares on social media, but in the real world, Liz Cheney is as irrelevant as ever.
