Joe Biden’s latest speech at the NAACP seemed less like a call to “lower the temperature” and more like a verbal fireworks show aimed squarely at Donald Trump. Biden’s rant was filled with high-decibel tirades about the supposed “hell” that Trump’s presidency unleashed on Black America. One might wonder if the teleprompter had been swapped out for a bullhorn.
What could possibly be the reasoning behind Biden calling the George Floyd protests, which left a trail of destruction in their path, as peaceful? His outrage over Trump considering the deployment of the National Guard sounds almost cartoonish when juxtaposed with the billions of dollars in damage caused by these “peaceful” events of 2020. Is this Biden’s idea of “telling the truth”? It’s more like a re-enactment of a bad SNL skit.
Ah yes, the mostly peaceful protests… https://t.co/485p5omzm2 pic.twitter.com/s6azDCyqov

Biden certainly wasn’t done throwing darts. He jumped headfirst into the labor market, accusing Trump of decimating Black businesses and lying about Black unemployment rates. The irony was not lost on those who remember that the Trump administration saw record lows in Black unemployment and a surge in Black entrepreneurship. And Biden’s laughable claim that the only real “black job” he’s aware of is being vice president or the first Black president will likely go down as one of the most tone-deaf comments of the decade.
Despite facing calls to step down since his disastrous June 27 debate performance, Biden doubled down on his commitment, ensuring everyone he’s “all in.” This bold stance comes at a time when his support among Black voters has plummeted from 86 percent in 2020 to a measly 70 percent this year. The numbers look even grimmer for Black voters under 50, dropping from 80 percent to a shocking 37 percent.
Meanwhile, support for Trump among Black voters has surged from 7 percent to 21 percent. Perhaps it’s not just Biden who needs to lower the temperature, but also his delusions of grandeur regarding his party’s handling of racial and economic issues. Snowflakes might just be melting in Biden’s winter wonderland of rhetoric.
