Republican Congressman Thomas Massie from Kentucky has made it clear that he wants the Biden administration to “leave us alone” when it comes to new energy efficiency standards. In a tweet, Massie expressed his disapproval of a new proposal by the United States Department of Energy that would require certain water heaters to use more efficient technology. According to Massie, these products already exist in the free market, and consumers should have the choice of whether or not to invest in them. He believes that the upfront cost of these new water heaters may not be worth the potential long-term savings.

It’s refreshing to see a lawmaker fighting for the rights of consumers and pushing back against government overreach. Massie understands that the free market is already providing these energy-efficient options, and it should be up to individuals to decide what makes the most sense for their own budgets and lifestyles. It’s not the government’s job to dictate what products we should be using or how we should be spending our money.

But unfortunately, this is yet another example of how the Biden administration is trying to expand its reach and control over our lives. They continue to propose new regulations and standards that limit our choices and increase costs. It’s becoming harder and harder for hardworking Americans to make their own decisions and manage their own finances without interference from the government.
As conservatives, we believe in limited government and personal responsibility. We trust individuals to make the best decisions for themselves and their families, without the heavy hand of government telling them what to do. Congressman Massie is standing up for these principles and fighting against the Biden administration’s overreach. It’s important that we support lawmakers like him who are willing to take a stand and defend our freedoms.
