In yet another case of misinformation from the mainstream media, it has come to light that there are indeed U.S. troops in Yemen, contrary to what the Pentagon spokesperson Major Gen. Patrick Ryder claimed. The Intercept, a notorious left-wing outlet, reported that a War Powers Act Report from the White House confirms the presence of American military personnel in Yemen. This report states that these brave soldiers are deployed to conduct operations against terrorists from al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula and ISIS.

It’s no surprise that the Pentagon is trying to hide this information. Perhaps their lack of awareness is a result of the “dramatic expansion in US presence in the region,” as Just Foreign Policy executive director Erik Sperling suggests. But let’s not forget that our troops are out there risking their lives to protect our national security, while the left-wing media tries to sweep their efforts under the rug.
Despite Lt. Col. Bryon McGarry’s attempt to support Ryder’s claim, it’s clear that the truth has been exposed. The Defense Manpower Data Center’s Personnel, Workforce Reports & Publications site confirms that four American service members are currently in Yemen. Kudos to Jason Paladino, an investigator with the Project on Government Oversight, for shedding light on this information. It’s a shame that the mainstream media won’t prioritize reporting these crucial details.
It’s important to note that the United States has been involved in Yemen for over two decades, starting with the bombing of the USS Cole in October 2000. However, it was during Barack Obama’s presidency that our military presence in Yemen really escalated. Obama conducted an intense counterterrorism campaign in the country, utilizing drone strikes and airstrikes. And let’s not forget that both Obama and the subsequent administration of Donald Trump supported the Saudi intervention in the Yemeni Civil War.
Even under the current administration, our forces continue to engage the Houthi rebels, who pose a threat to regional stability. Recently, they successfully struck an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ground station and neutralized 10 UAVs. This is just another example of the tireless efforts of our military to keep our nation safe from the forces of terrorism.
It’s time for the media to stop downplaying the sacrifices of our troops and start giving them the respect they deserve. Instead of nitpicking over technicalities and dancing around the truth, let’s focus on the incredible bravery and dedication of our servicemen and women. They are true heroes, and it’s about time they receive the recognition they are owed.
