Well, well, well – it looks like the Rockford Public School District has been caught with their hand in the cookie jar! Dan and Jennifer Mead have stepped up to the plate to swing a major lawsuit against the district, claiming their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights were violated. How, you ask? By secretly treating their daughter, G.M., like a male without the Meads’ knowledge or consent!
The school district allegedly failed to inform the Meads that their daughter was being referred to with a masculine name and male pronouns. This all came to light when the Meads received a fishy report from a school neuropsychologist that used a masculine name to refer to their daughter. Sneaky, sneaky!

To make matters worse, the school district apparently has a policy of referring to students by names and pronouns associated with the opposite sex without their parents’ knowledge. Vincent Wagner, the lawyer representing the Meads, even stated that nobody from the school district had the decency to inform them about this shady switcheroo.
The plot thickens when we learn that the Meads’ daughter had been seeing a school counselor, Erin Cole, who allegedly had open communication with Jennifer Mead about their daughter’s visits to the counselor’s office. However, the Meads were left in the dark about their daughter’s gender identity change and subsequent mental health diagnoses.
When G.M. finally reached out to Cole to ask the teachers to call her by a male name, the counselor conveniently failed to inform the Meads about their daughter’s request and continued referring to G.M. using female pronouns. Talk about hiding the truth!
But wait, there’s more! The school district’s neuropsychologist, Heather Slater, started keeping a handwritten log about G.M., using both feminine and masculine names while marking the sheet with “F but Trans,” indicating female but transgendered. The school district employees began regularly using the masculine name and male pronouns to refer to G.M. starting in September, without a single peep to the Meads. Outrageous!
The cherry on top of this chaotic sundae is that Slater admitted to forgetting to edit one teacher’s comments in a report to delete all mentions of the masculine name and pronouns, defending her actions by claiming it’s just “the policy for legal documents.” Nice try, but we’re not buying it, Slater!
In response to this tomfoolery, the Meads made the smart decision to pull their daughter out of public school and start homeschooling. And now, they’re seeking some serious damages, including compensatory damages and reasonable attorneys’ fees. It’s about time someone took a stand against this nonsense!
In the end, it’s clear that the Rockford Public School District has some explaining to do. Let this be a lesson to all the school districts out there – don’t mess with conservative parents’ rights!
