New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) and Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) are taking bold steps to tackle the surge of crime in the New York City subway. The tough-on-crime duo is cracking down on the chaos underground, reinstating bag checks and deploying an army of law enforcement to keep commuters safe.

Adams, who is not playing games when it comes to public safety, previously ordered an additional 1,000 law enforcement officials to patrol the subway in February after witnessing a staggering 45% increase in crime during January. The man means business, folks.
Hochul is also flexing her muscles by deploying 1,000 additional law enforcement officers to the subway, including 750 New York National Guard members and 250 law enforcement members. The National Guard and state police will be teaming up with the NYPD to ensure no weapons are making their way into the subway – a move that has law-abiding citizens sighing with relief.
And that’s not all, folks. Adams and Hochul are bringing back bag checks to root out any troublemakers before they cause harm. Adams even has big plans to introduce state-of-the-art technology to detect weapons in the subway, because he’s dead set on getting those illegal guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals.
But wait, there’s more. Hochul is proposing a bill to ban violent criminals from using public transportation. Finally, someone is taking a stand to protect the innocent commuters from the bad apples who are trying to spoil the bunch. No one should have to worry about sitting next to a potential threat on their way to work or the doctor’s office.
