Obama Sneaks into UK Leadership Circle Amid Biden Rift Rumors

Former President Barack Obama popped up in London on Monday, making a surprise appearance at 10 Downing St., the U.K. prime minister’s official residence. This was Obama’s first visit to the residence since he jetted over in 2016 as he was wrapping up his presidency.

During his approximately hour-long “informal courtesy drop-in” with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Obama chatted about various topics, with little clarification on exactly what those topics were. Even though the visit was said to be of Obama’s own volition, it couldn’t help but raise eyebrows about whether he still has a hunger for power and influence.

The timing of Obama’s visit raised some red flags, especially as it came shortly after a juicy Axios report spilled the tea on a supposed “rivalry” between staffers of the Obama and Biden administrations. The report claimed that Biden can’t seem to stop comparing himself to Obama, feeling bitter about differences in policy and Obama’s support for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Apparently, Biden loves to measure his presidential accomplishments against Obama’s, and if that’s not evidence of lingering resentment, then what is?

Adding to the drama, a Washington Post report even suggested that Biden has been chatting it up more with former President Bill Clinton than with Obama. A White House spokesman tried to cool the flames by insisting that Obama “is family” to Biden, but actions speak louder than words, don’t they?

In any case, Obama’s unexpected London jaunt has certainly stirred the pot, leaving more questions than answers about the true nature of his relationship with his former veep. And if Obama’s still stealing the spotlight, who knows what other surprises are in store?
