Obama’s Influence Wanes as Biden’s Legacy Faces Criticism Amid 2024 Race

Old soldiers may never die, but they certainly don’t linger in the limelight like a staunchly uninvited party guest. This thought comes to mind when contemplating the departure of the once-revered Barack Obama from his position as the premier Democrat power broker. With the 2024 presidential election looming, it has become painfully clear that the Obama mystique is fading faster than a fleeting shadow, replaced by the reality of a failed political legacy and the farce of an unripe successor, Joe Biden.

While General Douglas MacArthur stood proudly before Congress projecting strength and wisdom, Obama seems to have taken a different path, one that leads to a crumbling Democratic house of cards. The former president’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering during Biden’s rise to the spotlight indicates a desperate attempt to cling to relevance, positioning himself as the mastermind behind a candidacy that indeed resurrected the specter of a “third Obama term” — which, judging by current events, has resulted in little more than disillusionment for the American public.

The irony looms large. Obama, who ostensibly had no military tenure and is still far from retirement age, has orchestrated Biden’s journey right through the political minefield, serving as a whispering puppeteer guiding the ship into choppy waters. Evidence suggests he played a critical role in engineering Biden’s nomination in 2020, despite the alarming signs of cognitive decline evident to anyone paying attention. Rather than acting in the nation’s best interest, the Obamas chose to polish a tarnished image, utilizing Biden’s working-class facade while simultaneously piloting the ship as he navigated treacherous waters in absentia.

As political destinies unfurled and the Biden administration began to unravel with unparalleled rapidity, it was as if the progressive brigade was given an open invitation to wreak havoc. Those who once championed Obama’s ideals have now seen their dreams turn to nightmares. Spiraling inflation, unchecked illegal immigration, and a foreign policy mired in weakness stand as testaments to the calamitous consequences of this misguided experiment. Voters have grown weary of the grand ideas which sound impressive but have resulted in little more than a cacophony of chaos and division.

With Kamala Harris poised for her own failed bid, it’s become clear that Obama’s once-stalwart presence has transformed into a monotonous refrain, ignored by a populace eager for genuine leadership. As Victor Davis Hanson keenly observes, it appears that the worship of the Obamaites has backfired spectacularly. The glowing promises of hope and change have devolved into a critique of nagging predictions and stale rhetoric, cementing the notion that voters are ready to send both Obama and Biden packing for good.

In the end, while old generals may gracefully fade away, Barack Obama has opted to overstay his welcome. He faces an unflattering historical verdict as someone who didn’t merely wear out his welcome, but rather, orchestrated a disastrous era of leadership that crumbled to dust. The overreliance on images of past glory leads one to ponder if perhaps it would have served both Obama and the Democrats to quietly slip into the shadows instead of pushing through another disastrous campaign. As the nation continues to grapple with the fallout of his legacy, it would seem that fading away might have been the best option after all.
