Virginia-based songwriter Oliver Anthony, known for his hit single “Rich Men North Of Richmond,” recently addressed claims made by the “corporate news” that he supports President Biden. In a video uploaded to YouTube, Anthony humorously discussed his song being played at the GOP presidential debate in Milwaukee. He clarified that his song was not specifically about Joe Biden, but rather about the politicians on the stage and the larger issues within the system.

Naturally, the liberal media ran with their own interpretations, twisting Anthony’s words to make it seem like he endorsed President Biden. Outlets like the New York Times and Washington Post conveniently ignored his follow-up post on Facebook, where he explicitly stated that he does not support Biden. It’s no surprise that the corporate news would go to such lengths to push their biased agenda.

The debates over Anthony’s political views began to heat up, with conservatives and leftists having vastly different interpretations of his statement. But once again, the corporate news conveniently left out crucial details. Anthony made it clear that Biden is indeed part of the problem, but the lyrics of his song encompass a much broader critique of the entire system, including the corporate-owned conservative politicians who were on the debate stage that night.
It’s refreshing to see an artist like Oliver Anthony tackle the corruption within our political system through his music. It’s no secret that Washington D.C. is filled with career politicians who prioritize their own interests over those of the American people. Anthony’s song serves as a wake-up call to both sides of the political spectrum, calling out the influence and control that corporations have over our elected officials.
Unfortunately, the mainstream media will continue to twist narratives and push their own agenda. They are quick to label anyone who doesn’t tow the liberal line as a supporter of President Biden. It’s just another example of how they selectively spin stories to fit their preferred narrative.
Oliver Anthony deserves credit for standing up for his true intentions and not letting the media manipulate his words. His song “Rich Men North Of Richmond” resonates with Americans because it speaks to the frustrations caused by politicians on both sides of the aisle. It’s time for the American people to demand transparency and accountability from our elected officials. The system needs a major overhaul, and Oliver Anthony’s music reminds us of that important message.
