In a shocking turn of events, the Supreme Court has turned its back on big oil and sided with the climate change alarmists in their quest to undermine American energy independence. ExxonMobil, Koch Industries, and the American Petroleum Industry sought to have a climate change lawsuit moved to federal court, where fairness and reason often prevail. But alas, the liberal-leaning justices couldn’t resist the opportunity to stick it to the fossil fuel industry.
The lawsuit, filed in Minnesota, accuses these hardworking American companies of deceiving the public about climate science for decades. Can you believe the audacity? As if these companies, which power our homes, fuel our cars, and keep our economy churning, would engage in such tomfoolery! But that didn’t stop Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison from spewing his baseless accusations about harm to Minnesotans’ health and the state’s environment. What a load of hogwash!

Now, federal courts are known to be more sympathetic to businesses, which is why the defendants rightfully sought to have the lawsuit heard there. But the liberal agenda stops at nothing, and they couldn’t resist keeping the case in state court where they likely have friends in high places.
The oil and gas groups had a solid argument, claiming that climate change cases are a matter of national importance and should be resolved at the federal level. After all, this is not just about Minnesota—this is about the entire country’s energy policy. But the Supreme Court chose to ignore this crucial point, delivering a blow to the common-sense approach of the energy industry.
And if this wasn’t bad enough, similar frivolous lawsuits are cropping up in other states, including Hawaii, California, Colorado, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York. It seems like the anti-energy crusaders will stop at nothing to cripple the backbone of our economy. And with more than 30 states, cities, and counties jumping on the sue-the-energy-companies bandwagon, it’s a wonder there’s anyone left to keep the lights on!
To add insult to injury, the Supreme Court didn’t even bother to provide a reason for their decision. Only Justice Brett Kavanaugh had the sense to see through the charade and vote to hear the case. But the rest of the justices chose to play politics instead of upholding the integrity of our energy industry.
This is just one more indicator of the uphill battle facing American businesses against the onslaught of left-wing activism. But fear not, for the fight is far from over. The American spirit and the resilience of our energy industry will prevail, no matter how many baseless lawsuits the climate change zealots throw at them.
