House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, has issued a strong demand for President Joe Biden to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” border barrier that President Donald Trump put in place during his time in office. Johnson believes that if Biden truly wants to be taken seriously when it comes to his border promises for the 2024 election, he needs to show that he’s serious about taking action to secure the border.
Johnson went on to slam Biden’s handling of the border situation, stating that Americans have lost faith in the President and won’t be fooled by what he calls “election-year gimmicks” that don’t actually address the root of the border crisis. Johnson highlighted the fact that Biden’s administration has admitted approximately seven million illegal migrants since January 2021, a number that he claims has contributed to a myriad of issues, including a negative impact on American wages, increased housing costs, and a rise in drug smuggling.

The House Speaker also called attention to the impact of the Biden administration’s parole pathway, which he believes has invited over one million migrants to seek employment opportunities, taking potential jobs and wages away from American citizens. Johnson emphasized that Biden’s border policies have led to a loss of career opportunities for many native-born Americans, sparking what he refers to as “Deaths of Despair.”
Furthermore, Johnson criticized the media for its treatment of the issue, accusing them of ignoring the economic and social damage caused by the influx of migrants. He also questioned Biden’s executive power and willingness to address the border crisis, citing the President’s alleged reluctance to utilize Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
In conclusion, Johnson’s stance is clear: Biden must take decisive action to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy and put an end to what he views as the administration’s abuse of the parole system.
