Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett recently made headlines with her controversial idea that black Americans should be exempt from paying taxes. Now, hold on to your hats, folks, because this is one wild ride of a suggestion! Crockett spilled the beans during a podcast appearance, where she casually mentioned that some folks had tossed around the idea of giving black people a tax break. This left me scratching my head wondering, “Huh? What in tarnation is she talking about?”

Now, I don’t know about you, but the last time I checked, taxes are a necessary evil that we all have to deal with, regardless of the color of our skin. I mean, who wouldn’t mind a little extra cash in their pocket? But to suggest that one group of people should get a free pass while the rest of us keep on chugging along, paying our dues, well, that just doesn’t sit right with me.
Crockett tried to rationalize her proposal by talking about reparations and how black Americans are “behind” because of past injustices. Look, I get it, history is messy, and there’s no denying that. But using taxes as a way to right those wrongs? That’s like putting a Band-Aid on a broken leg. Let’s face it, folks, two wrongs don’t make a right.
And to top it all off, Crockett took a swing at President Biden and his policies, suggesting that many black Americans preferred Trump because they felt better off financially. Now, I’m no fortune-teller, but last time I checked, the Trump administration did wonders for the economy. So it’s no surprise that folks miss those days of lower taxes and more jobs. Heck, who wouldn’t?
In the end, Crockett’s idea of tax breaks for black Americans just doesn’t add up. We’re all in this together, folks, and playing favorites based on race is a slippery slope. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize – a fair and equal America for all, where hard work pays off no matter the color of your skin.
