Even as he's facing multiple investigations, Donald Trump called for the Justice Department to investigate Joe Biden.
In March, Trump cited a lawsuit filed against the Department of Justice by Kevin Evans, an attorney from Colorado. He had sought information about the business activities of Biden's son Hunter and brother James. According to Evans, he had initially filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
According to Evans, the Justice Department had acknowledged in court that it had 400 documents that could be responsive to his request. However, it has since refused to provide the documents.
"In a statement released on Tuesday, Trump claimed that the documents show that Joe Biden used his position to benefit his personal and business interests, and he asked why the Department of Justice did not come clean regarding the allegations against him. He also claimed that after seven years of investigations, the authorities found nothing indicating that he had done anything wrong."
Trump is facing two different investigations from the Department of Justice. One of these focuses on his actions following the January 6 riot in the Capitol. The other is related to the mishandling of classified information.
He is also facing various lawsuits. One of these is from E. Jean Carroll, who is an adult survivor, and another is from New York Attorney General Eric James. James is suing Trump for allegedly violating the state's business laws.
The White House would not comment on the business activities of the president's relatives.
