Less than six months until the election, many are curious about who former President Donald Trump might pick to run with him. Trump was recently heard talking about potential running mates on a recording released by Axios. This recording happened during a GOP donor retreat at Mar-a-Lago.
Some of Trump’s comments were about things like Utah Sen. Mike Lee’s haircut and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum’s wealth. He also mentioned Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn, comparing her to the Energizer Bunny during her previous campaign.
Trump also had substantial things to say about freshman Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance. Even though Vance was critical of Trump in the past, the former president praised him now as a “great senator.” Vance said he hasn’t talked to Trump about being VP but would like to support him.
Rep. Elise Stefanik was another person Trump mentioned. She’s seen as a strong defender of Trump. Stefanik was praised for being smart and for her influence in upstate New York. Last year, she filed a complaint against the judge overseeing Trump’s civil fraud trial, claiming the judge showed bias.
This news shows Trump’s active role in planning for the upcoming election. It’s great to see him considering various options and being involved in shaping the future of the Republican party. It’s also refreshing to see how former critics like J.D. Vance have come around to supporting Trump, showing his ability to unite people under a common cause. The enthusiasm and support for Trump from figures like Elise Stefanik also reflect the strong conservative values that continue to drive the GOP forward.
