A former Trump administration official is fighting for his life after a horrifying carjacking incident in crime-ridden Washington, D.C. Mike Gill, who served in the Commodity Futures Trading Commission during the Trump administration, was the first victim in a series of carjackings that terrorized the city on Monday night and Tuesday morning. This act of senseless violence highlights the lawlessness and chaos that has overtaken our nation’s capital.

The carjacking took place on the 900 block of K Street NW, where the suspect callously shot Gill while attempting to steal his vehicle. The suspect then callously fled on foot and carried out more carjackings, including one that resulted in the tragic death of 35-year-old Alberto Vasquez Jr. The suspect’s crime spree extended into Maryland, where he committed further carjackings before ultimately engaging in a fatal confrontation with law enforcement.
This shocking incident underscores the pressing need for increased law and order in our communities. The District of Columbia has been plagued by a surge in carjackings and other crimes, with a staggering 958 carjackings reported last year alone. This alarming trend of lawlessness is unacceptable and demands a strong response from local authorities.
The critical condition of Mike Gill serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by the escalating crime rates in Washington, D.C.
