Former President Donald Trump is up to his old tricks again, taking aim at the late Sen. John McCain during his recent visit to Iowa. Despite the Iowa Caucuses being just around the corner, Trump couldn’t resist the opportunity to throw shade at the longtime Arizona Republican, who passed away in 2018 after battling brain cancer.

During his visit to Iowa, Trump didn’t hold back the punches, criticizing not only Joe Biden but also taking the time to revisit his grudge against McCain. Trump didn’t mince words, calling out McCain for his pivotal “no” vote on the skinny repeal of Obamacare, which dealt a blow to GOP efforts to dismantle former President Barack Obama’s healthcare law. He even went as far as to mock McCain’s physical limitations, insensitively remarking that McCain “couldn’t get his arm up that day,” referencing the injuries McCain sustained as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
Not content with just attacking Biden and McCain, Trump also took aim at fellow Republicans, painting himself as the outsider who refuses to play by traditional political rules. His remarks have reignited a firestorm of controversy, with many criticizing him for disrespecting McCain’s memory and his family, including McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain, who lashed out at Trump on social media.
Despite the backlash, Trump remains undeterred, continuing to rally his supporters and make a case for his presidency, even going so far as to court young conservative activists in Iowa. His campaign is pulling out all the stops to demonstrate his influence and organizational prowess as he gears up for the upcoming general election.
