Progressive-run cities and states loudly proclaim their status as “sanctuary” jurisdictions for illegal immigrants, but what happens when uncontrolled illegal immigration starts to impact these places in ways that the progressives who run them never intended and cannot handle? The reality is that their hollow virtue signaling has caught up to them.
Despite their supposed compassion for “undocumented migrants”, these so-called ‘sanctuary’ cities seem to object to offering actual sanctuary to illegal immigrants. New York Mayor Eric Adams recently accused Texas Governor Greg Abbott of racism for busing migrants to places with Black mayors, but many of the largest ‘sanctuary’ cities currently have Black mayors. The hypocrisy is staggering.
Meanwhile, New York City is struggling to deal with the crush of migrants it willingly accepted, and yet, El Paso’s Democrat Mayor Oscar Leeser is ready to bus more migrants to the Big Apple and other major cities across the United States. It seems Democrats are happy to virtue signal about their “compassionate” stance on immigration but are unable and unwilling to deal with the consequences.

It’s also worth noting that progressive enclaves like Martha’s Vineyard and New York City effectively deport illegal migrant populations in less than 24 hours, while Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot called Governor Abbott a bad Christian for busing in migrants to her city but promptly evicted them. The height of of their priorities is the optics, not the actual welfare of these migrants.
At a recent public meeting in Chicago, a Black female resident was seen holding a ‘build the wall’ sign while objecting to the impact the border crisis is having on her community. It’s clear that Americans living in urban communities are feeling the brunt of the illegal immigration crisis fueled by liberal policies.
The federal government must enforce laws and defend our sovereignty, but the Biden administration and his allies in Congress have made it clear from the start that they would do neither. The result: more than six million people have acted accordingly by entering the country illegally. The solution is painfully simple: end the Biden policy.
