White House Opens Door to New Reporters After AP Controversy Over Gulf of America Name

In what could be considered a new chapter in the ongoing battle between mainstream media and the Trump administration, the White House recently threw down the gauntlet against the Associated Press over its stubborn refusal to refer to the Gulf of America by its rightful name. Last Friday, Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich announced that the AP’s access to cover the White House will now be opened up to a host of other reporters—about time, considering how many have been locked out while this so-called “news outlet” persists in archaic nomenclature.

Instead of acknowledging a lawful geographic name change, the AP continues to cling to its outdated title, “Gulf of Mexico.” For those keeping score, this latest refusal is just another exhibit in the AP’s ongoing gallery of hypocrisy. Amid cries of, “We’re not biased!” from the leftist journalism establishment, they continue to reveal themselves as purveyors of misinformation, all while waving the First Amendment like a flag in a misguided fraternity party. Their right to spread confusion is protected, but why should conservatives sit quietly as they mayhem their way through facts?

What’s truly perplexing is how the AP can adjust terminology quicker than a five-year-old on a sugar rush when it suits their narrative. The evidence is out there: one minute they’re referring to the capital of Ukraine as “Kiev,” and then—poof!—it’s “Kyiv.” They’ve capitalized “Black” while leaving “white” in the lowercase trenches. They refer to riots as “unrest,” but when it comes to “Gulf of America”? Crickets. If anyone thought the AP was straddling the line between journalism and activism, this snub proves they’re squarely in the activist category.

In its ever-evolving style guide, the AP unfortunately fancies itself an arbiter of language, a role the average American never signed up for. The guide often prioritizes woke terminology over common sense. In an example that would baffle former generations, the AP suggested using “pregnant people” instead of “pregnant women.” Talk about a double whammy of gobbledygook! While they have conceded to some conventional terminology for the sake of clarity, such as “pregnant women,” the push for inclusivity brings along a host of bizarre phrases that only serve to confuse the average reader.

To add insult to injury, the AP’s questionable coverage doesn’t stop with linguistics. When looking back at how they treated now-former Vice President Kamala Harris during her campaign, the outlet practically wrapped her in golden silk, ensuring that any hint of scandal or misstep was gift-wrapped in gentle language. This wasn’t just a favor for the Democrats in advance of elections; it’s emblematic of an editorial philosophy that invariably aims to shield their favored political players from scrutiny.

And let’s not forget the AP’s particularly troubling takes on international affairs, especially regarding Israel. With reporters embedded with Hamas during the October 7 attack and a tendency to frame terrorist operatives as sympathetic figures, this outlet stretches the bounds of journalistic integrity as far as it will go. Their lack of clear allegiance to facts creates a murky landscape in which readers are left to wonder who’s the protagonist and who’s the antagonist.

While the Associated Press may continue to play fast and loose with language and ethics, the Trump administration’s bold move brings a refreshing dose of accountability to the fore. The idea that liberal media can simply change the rules to suit their agenda is being challenged, and whether they like it or not, transparency is on the horizon.
