Yale Law Caves Into The Liberal Mob, Cancel Pro-Israel Speech

The Jewish Law Student Association (JLSA) at Yale Law School (YLS) has capitulated to pressure from leftist radicals and canceled a speaking event with former Israeli Knesset member, Michal Cotler-Wunsh. The event, which was to deal with defining and combating antisemitism, was planned as part of a tour with the Academic Engagement Network. However, the JLSA bowed to the pressure and pulled out of the event. This underhanded maneuver came a week before the event was due to take place, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

It is truly shocking that a venerable institution like Yale University is cowering to extremist groups that want to silence free speech and curtail academic discourse. This incident comes in the wake of another controversial speaker, Houria Bouteldja, who was invited to speak at the university and made anti-Israel and antisemitic comments during her talk. The event was heavily criticized for being held on the second day of Passover, demonstrating a reckless disregard for the Jewish community.

The situation has gone from bad to worse because another student group, Yallies4Palestine, is pushing to have a boycotting, divesting and sanctions resolution passed. This resolution would compel the university to terminate its contract with G4S, a British multinational providing security technology to Israeli security forces in the West Bank.

It is clear that leftist radicals are running riot on America’s campuses, which have become nothing more than echo chambers for extremists. When students are denied the opportunity to engage in intellectual and honest debate because of their political beliefs or ethnicity, it represents a massive failure on the part of the universities.

It is high time our education institutions uphold the principles of free speech and critical thinking, rather than bowing to the radical agenda of the left. Yale University and other institutions must stop giving in to the demands of extremist groups and start respecting the rights of all students to express their views and engage in honest discourse.
