The Russians are at it again! This time, they have collided with an American drone in international airspace over the Black Sea. The United States European Command (EUCOM) reported that a Russian Su-27 aircraft intercepted an MQ-9 drone, which was performing its routine surveillance mission, causing a complete loss of the MQ-9. Talk about a reckless, environmentally unsound and unprofessional manner for a supposed superpower!

The Russians have no regard for international airspace or American lives. Several times before the collision, the Su-27s dumped fuel on and flew in front of the MQ-9. It was only a matter of time before incidents like this happened. The Americans have been providing significant aid to Ukraine, and now the Russians are biting back. They clearly don’t appreciate America’s support for a sovereign nation that has faced Russian aggression.

General James B. Hecker, commander of U.S. Air Forces Europe and Air Forces Africa, has pledged that U.S. and Allied aircraft will continue to operate in international airspace. But with the Russians conducting themselves unprofessionally and unsafely, how can American forces operate effectively?
The Pentagon has a briefing scheduled for later today, so we’ll see if there’s more information provided. But one thing is for sure: the Russians cannot be trusted. Their aggressive actions could lead to miscalculations and unintended escalation. It’s time for the United States to stand up to the Russians and show them that they cannot bully America or our allies.
