Well, well, well, it looks like our favorite socialist darling, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to the messes in her own backyard. Sure, we can’t pin all the blame on her for the downward spiral of three Queens neighborhoods in her district – that’s the city’s fault, mostly – but it’s quite the spectacle to see the so-called “Squad” member’s district turning into what looks like a scene straight out of a third-world country.
Corona, Jackson Heights, and Elmhurst, once bustling communities in Queens, have now become overrun with desperate migrants peddling goods on the sidewalks and prostitutes soliciting services openly, maybe even to teens. Imagine taking a leisurely stroll with your little ones and having to explain why there are ladies of the night loitering around. Thanks, AOC!

And let’s not forget the charming nickname for the main prostitution strip along Roosevelt Avenue – “the market of sweethearts.” Oh, how quaint! Except, there’s nothing sweet about street prostitution. It’s a dark and seedy world where oftentimes, these women aren’t there by choice but by necessity, maybe struggling with addiction or worse. But hey, who needs actual solutions when you can just slap a cute name on a tragic situation, right?
But who else is to blame for this urban decay? Well, surprise, surprise, it’s the progressive politicians who have been running the show in this diverse part of Queens. Diversity, they say! But what good is diversity when people are living in squalor, forced to resort to illegal activities just to survive? Progressivism strikes again, folks.
If only these left-leaning leaders would focus on things that actually create prosperity, like respecting property rights, keeping taxes low, cutting unnecessary red tape, and hey, maybe attracting some big businesses to the area for those 25,000 job opportunities. But nah, that would make too much sense for the “progressives.”
In the end, it’s just another day, another city falling apart under the weight of liberal governance. Maybe one day, they’ll learn that empty rhetoric and virtue signaling won’t fix the real problems facing our communities. But until then, we’ll just have to keep watching the chaos unfold in AOC’s district, wondering when they’ll finally wake up and smell the socialism.
