An alarming new chapter has emerged in the saga of threats against former President Trump, with a man now in custody for a brazen assassination attempt. Ryan Wesley Routh, at the ripe age of 58, apparently thought that a golf course in West Palm Beach would be the perfect place for his carefully laid plans. Evidently, Routh left behind a handwritten manifesto that doubles as a confession and a bizarre contract offering $150,000 to anyone brave enough to finish what he couldn’t. One has to wonder what kind of delusional thinking leads a person to believe they can hire out an assassination like some contracted job on Craigslist.
Documents submitted to the court painted a picture of a man determined to carry out his mission, perhaps inspired by a heavy dose of anti-Trump rhetoric. Routh is alleged to have meticulously mapped out an escape route to Mexico and even packed his trusty Nissan Xterra with an alarming array of gear, including license plates, cellphones, gloves, and a passport. Maybe he thought he could slip away like a shadow after pulling off the crime of the century. Unfortunately for him, reality struck when a Secret Service agent spotted him lurking near the sixth hole, rifle in hand. One has to commend the agent’s keen instincts, as he spotted the suspicious figure just before Trump teed off, potentially saving the former president’s life.
With the release to the public of this latest assassin's manifesto, with a $150,000.00 bounty written by the perp after he was caught, the D.O.J. is practically admitting it! We are in the final seconds of having a sovereign country… whuda thunk it?? https://t.co/z3dcO6YOCg

Routh did not manage to fire a shot, but he got perilously close with his semi-automatic rifle, a detail that is both chilling and outright bizarre. The Secret Service agent had to act quickly once he caught sight of Routh—who was apparently attempting to perfect both his hiding skills and his marksmanship at the same time. The gun barrels do tend to attract attention. The agent fired his service weapon to neutralize the situation, proving that the Secret Service remains a bullish defense against just such insane plots.
In an added twist, the investigation uncovered a box that Routh had turned over to an unidentified witness months before his attempt. Inside were firearms components and, oddly enough, a manifesto in which he condemned Trump in grandiose terms, declaring him unfit for office while expressing his dissatisfaction with the Middle Eastern landscape. It’s almost poetic how someone plotting murder could still find time to critique foreign policy as if he were firing off op-eds instead of bullets.
As the legal proceedings begin, Routh faces serious charges, including attempted murder, with state officials looking to add even more to his growing list of legal woes. This is now the second attempted assassination against Trump in just two months. This kind of trend raises a critical question: How far will the radical Left go in undermining democracy? The clear answer is that threats against those in leadership simply cannot be taken lightly, and law enforcement must remain vigilant against those who view political discourse as a license for violence. Routh may have thought he could turn his warped worldview into reality, but thankfully, the forces of law and order remain on guard.
