A special counsel named Jack Smith is working to prosecute President Trump for things he said after the 2020 election. This is concerning because, in America, people should be able to share their opinions without fear of being thrown in prison.
President Trump has faced many challenges, including surviving two assassination attempts. The people who tried to harm him were influenced by false information spread by media outlets that constantly attacked Trump. It’s not fair for someone to be blamed for crimes others commit just because they express their views.

The way President Trump is being targeted sets a dangerous precedent. If he can be prosecuted for speaking out against election fraud, then anyone who speaks out against him should also be held accountable. The treatment of Americans who protested at the Capitol on January 6 is also troubling. Many of them have been unfairly labeled as “terrorists” and “insurrectionists” simply for questioning the election results. It’s wrong to punish people for expressing their beliefs, even if those beliefs are unpopular.
