President Joe Biden has expressed his confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris’s efforts to address the root causes of migration from Northern Central America. On Monday, Harris announced her latest efforts to tackle the issue, including securing an additional $1 billion from the private sector to support infrastructure projects for clean energy development, technical support, and labor training.

Since June 7, 2022, the Vice President has been vigorously working on the migration issue and announced nearly $2 billion in extra funding to tackle its root causes. Her initiatives have already produced positive outcomes, with over one million individuals being incorporated into the formal financial sector and 65,000 of them acquiring bank accounts due to her efforts. Additionally, her work has enabled four million people to gain access to the internet.
When questioned about Vice President Harris’s performance at the border, President Biden responded positively, saying “Yes, she is” doing well. Despite this, Harris did not join Biden on his initial visit to the border in January, and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had no information to share regarding Harris’s work on migration at the time.
Though Harris has not been present at the border, her efforts to address the root causes of migration have been successful thus far. She is continuing to work on the issue and has expressed her commitment to finding long-term solutions.
