Biden’s Blunders: Cannon Lies & F-16 Fiascos Mock 2nd Amendment

Another day, another round of lies about guns from the President of the United States. This Tuesday evening at a Democratic fundraiser in California, Biden demonstrated yet again that he has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about. This time he was peddling falsehoods about AR-15’s, F-16s, and even cannons. The man who claims to be a “Second Amendment guy”, has proven to be the most anti-Second Amendment President in history, constantly pushing for “assault weapon” bans without a definition of what an “assault weapon” is. He also favors universal background checks, magazine bans, waiting periods, and any other law that would restrict the rights of American citizens.

Biden’s statement that citizens couldn’t own a cannon at the time of the Second Amendment’s ratification is a complete falsehood. During that era, civilians could buy and own cannons and warships. “Privateers” were authorized to pursue and destroy enemy vessels in times of war. As for machine guns, there is a lengthy process to obtain one, including a prohibitive transfer tax and background check. Though the cost is high, as private sales of fully automatic weapons have been banned, they are not illegal to own if you pass the process.

Biden loves to repeat these falsehoods in front of his adoring crowds, as he did on Tuesday night. He even mocked the Second Amendment, proclaiming that an AR-15 is not enough for a civilian revolution, but you need an F-16. He seems to forget that the Second Amendment represents an insurance policy against tyranny. His digs don’t end there, as he ridicules the idea that the tree of liberty is watered by the blood of patriots and tyrants. The truth is that the quote is “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants,” which has a completely different connotation.

Constitutional rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment are not dependent on public approval. The Supreme Court has confirmed the Second Amendment as guaranteeing an individual right to keep and bear arms, and no amount of misleading news or skewed polls can change that. Gun ownership is a right, not a privilege granted by the government– which can just as easily be taken away. Biden just can’t seem to get that right.

As the lies about gun ownership continue to be pushed by those in power, one thing is clear: American citizens need to uphold their right to bear arms now more than ever.
