In a stunning display of the Biden administration’s incompetence, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul and a bipartisan delegation of House lawmakers from Texas witnessed the disaster unfolding at the Rio Grande. The Biden administration has been relentless in attacking Texas for daring to protect the international border with Mexico. What’s next? Will they start harassing the Lone Star state for having the audacity to enforce traffic laws too?
As McCaul and his colleagues gazed out at the Rio Grande, they were met with a chilling sight: “BEWARE OF ALLIGATORS” signs and Texas Department of Public Safety boats armed to the teeth. Meanwhile, on the Mexican side, curious onlookers gathered to witness the chaos that the Biden administration’s open-border policies have unleashed.

The border patrol agents and state authorities are facing an unprecedented surge of illegal immigrants, and the Biden administration is doing everything it can to prevent reporters from exposing the full extent of the crisis. What are they trying to hide? Perhaps the absolute mayhem that their reckless policies have caused.
But it gets worse. Not only are illegal immigrants flooding across the border, but according to House Homeland Security Committee Chair McCaul, there have been over 300 encounters with individuals on the U.S. government’s terrorist watch list since the beginning of FY2021. That’s right, terrorists are taking advantage of the Biden administration’s border chaos to slip into our country.
McCaul is sounding the alarm, warning that radicalized Islamists from Russia, China, Iran, and other Middle Eastern countries are exploiting the open border to gain easy access to the United States. This is a national security threat of the highest order, and it’s all happening because of the Biden administration’s refusal to secure our border.
But it’s not just terrorists slipping through. The Biden administration’s policies are also leading to a massive influx of illegal immigrants, many of whom end up falling into the clutches of criminal enterprises like MS-13. Instead of cracking down on these criminals, Secretary Mayorkas and his cronies are fueling their operations by failing to secure the border.
As if that’s not bad enough, the Biden administration has reverted to the disgraceful policy of catch-and-release for illegal immigrants. This policy, which McCaul has been fighting against for 20 years, only serves to exacerbate the crisis at the border. The Biden administration’s incompetence knows no bounds.
McCaul is now working to persuade Mexico to cooperate in addressing the border crisis. He rightly points out that Texas is Mexico’s largest trading partner, and it’s in their best interest to work with the United States to secure the border. But, shockingly, the Biden administration seems to have no interest in using U.S. leverage over Mexico to address this crisis.
The bottom line is clear: the border crisis cannot be solved without the will of the President and the cooperation of Congress. Democrats and Republicans alike recognize the urgency of securing the border, but it remains to be seen whether the Biden administration has the will to take meaningful action.
As the Biden administration continues to bury its head in the sand, the crisis at the border worsens by the day. It’s time for the President and Congress to step up and take decisive action to secure our border and protect our national security. Anything less is a betrayal of the American people.
