The Biden White House is making a big announcement, folks! They have decided to redesignate the Yemeni Houthis as a terrorist group because they have been causing chaos by firing missiles and hijacking commercial ships. It’s about time someone put their foot down! But hold the phone, because this is where it gets interesting. The Biden White House won’t actually label them as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) like President Trump did. Nope! Instead, they’re going for the fancy title of Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT). Ooh, spooky!
Now, you might be wondering what the difference is between these two designations. Well, let me tell you, it’s more than just a bunch of fancy words. Being classified as an FTO means facing some serious consequences, like sanctions and even prison time. But being an SDGT? Meh, it’s nothing to worry about. It’s like getting a participation trophy for being a terrorist. So, it seems like Biden is only giving the Houthis a slap on the wrist while pretending to be tough. Classic Biden move, if you ask me.

They even had the audacity to take hostages from different countries. But did Biden take action immediately? Nope! He hesitated for weeks, showing his weak leadership yet again.
And here’s the cherry on top, folks. The Biden administration is worried about upending a fragile truce and starting a bigger conflict in the region. Well, guess what? By not taking strong action against the Houthis, they’re actually empowering them. It’s like giving a bully a pat on the back instead of standing up to them. Thanks to Biden’s lack of backbone, the civil war in Yemen might spread, and the world’s commerce could suffer. You see, freedom of navigation in international waters used to be a bedrock principle of Pax America. But if we don’t enforce it, then everything falls apart.
Now, some people argue that putting the Houthis on the FTO list might hurt aid organizations trying to help Yemen. But let me tell you, that’s just a bunch of hogwash. All it takes is a simple Executive Order to create a carve-out for aid to Yemen. It’s not rocket science, folks. So, if Biden really cared about Yemen and not just about pleasing Iran, he could find a way to do it. But it seems like he’s more interested in PR stunts to cover up his disastrous foreign policy than actually making a difference.
