Bill Clinton’s Blunder Boosts Trump’s Border Narrative In Harris Campaign Saga

Bill Clinton, the human embodiment of a political ghost that just won’t lay down, has decided to lend his voice to the campaign efforts of Vice President Kamala Harris. The irony is as thick as a double chocolate cake at a weight watchers convention, given that Clinton inadvertently admitted the economy was in far better shape during Donald Trump’s presidency. This admission was as welcome as a skunk at a garden party, especially for Harris and her supporters.

While speaking to a crowd in Michigan, Clinton mentioned that it’s not quite right for folks to vote for Trump just because the economy was humming along under his leadership. This proclamation elicited groans from the audience, showcasing a skilled mix of discomfort and denial. Nevertheless, Clinton soldiered on, allowing his ego to outpace his political acumen by suggesting he has the authority to express which leader might be the best fit for the job, believe it or not, based on his illustrious track record.

This isn’t a one-time slip either — Clinton’s penchant for gaffes appears to be a reoccurring theme. Just a couple of weeks before, he had waded into the murky waters of tragedy while referring to a recent murder case that has tied back to the debate over immigration. Clinton suggested that the murder of nursing student Laken Riley might have been avoided had her alleged killer been more thoroughly vetted. The killer in question, a 26-year-old illegal immigrant connected to a notorious gang, certainly presents an argument against Harris’s narrative of secure borders.

As the news has rippled through the political landscape, Trump’s campaign jumped at the chance to feature Clinton’s misplaced remarks in their ads. They seized the opportunity to remind voters that Harris was passing around the notion of a secured border just days after the alleged killer of Riley crossed into the U.S. It reinforces a narrative that the Biden administration is failing to protect Americans from individuals whose past is as murky as the muddy waters of a bog. Their promotional piece boasted Trump’s commitment to securing the border, a point that garnered an endorsement from the Border Patrol Union, which must be like catnip to conservatives.

Clinton’s spokeswoman, in an attempt to put out the fire, has claimed the Trump campaign took the former president’s words out of context. It appears that in Clinton’s world, admitting the economy was better under Trump might just be a minor detail in the grand scheme of things, but to the average voter, it screams confusion or, at best, a lack of cohesive messaging from the Democratic Party.

If this is the kind of support Harris can expect from one of the Democratic elite, perhaps they’d be better off investing in a crystal ball to predict their political future, or at least a good PR team. Ironically, the efforts are only drawing more attention to the vulnerabilities that plague the Democratic narrative, effectively assisting Trump and his supporters in making their case.
