Newly released emails expose the public health officials’ knowledge of “breakthrough cases” of COVID-19 in vaccinated individuals, but they pushed forward vaccine mandates nonetheless. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director, Rochelle Walensky, discussed in a January 2021 email one of her conversations with then-NIH Director, Francis Collins, on the issue of vaccine breakthroughs. Despite this knowledge, in media appearances months later, Walensky advocated for vaccines by claiming that vaccinated individuals “don’t get sick” and “do not carry the virus.” Similarly, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the highest-paid federal employee, and other public health officials made comparable arguments to encourage vaccination, even though they were aware of the danger the vaccines posed.

In May 2021, Fauci arguably claimed that vaccination makes an individual a “dead end” to the virus’s transmission to others. Understandably, many Americans are incensed by the revelation of these officials’ knowledge of the threat that they kept hidden from the public. Jay Bhattacharya, a professor at the prestigious Stanford School of Medicine, was “stunned” by this revelation and rightly pointed out the hypocrisy of officials advocating for mandatory vaccinations when they knew vaccinated people could still become infected and spread the virus.

Unfortunately, media organizations of all sorts are complicit in the cover-up of the truth that public officials concealed. The media comprehensively parroted the narrative that vaccines were 100% effective, dangerous, or had no downsides, destroying the trust between individuals, government officials, and the press. Thus, the government and the media should be held accountable for their untruths and disregard for the truth at the public’s expense. The American people demand honesty and transparency from their officials and will hold these officials accountable, along with the media, for any deceitful conduct on their part.
