Colorado Primary Shock: Socialism’s Grip Tightens on Democrats

Last night’s Colorado primary results were a wake-up call for every patriotic American: Melat Kiros, a young DSA-backed socialist, knocked off 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette in a shocking upset that proves the hard left is no longer content with coastal enclaves. What passed for a Democratic “big tent” is now a takeover by an ideology that treats radical policy experiments as virtue signals and calls it progress.

Colorado’s political earthquake didn’t stop there — veteran figures like Michael Bennet also fell short in pitched primary fights, and insurgent candidates grabbed momentum across multiple districts, turning safe seats into ideological battlegrounds. This isn’t merely intra-party drama; it’s an insurgency that threatens to hand swing seats to Democrats who will carry a socialist banner into general elections.

This surge follows the same pattern we’ve watched unfold in New York and other liberal strongholds, where DSA and Justice Democrats have pushed out establishment lawmakers and installed hard-left representatives who brag about being part of the new “movement.” The national media will try to sanitize these results as youthful energy, but Americans deserve to see the policies behind the hype: open borders, government-run health care, and a foreign policy that excuses America’s enemies.

And don’t forget Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez looming over all of this — she hasn’t formally declared a 2028 bid, but she’s left the door open and her endorsements and allies are clearly orchestrating a national strategy to elevate her and others like her. If AOC becomes the face of the Democratic ticket, Republicans will have to fight not just policy differences but an ideological brand that celebrates radicalism and denounces American strength.

The real danger is not rhetoric but consequence: Kiros and her allies have voiced sympathy with activists who question conventional definitions of antisemitism, downplay security concerns, and blame U.S. policy for foreign terror — positions that would alienate allies and embolden adversaries if they gain power. This is not “debate”; this is a dangerous pivot away from common-sense, pro-America governance.

Hardworking Americans should treat this as a call to action: we must expose the radical agenda, mobilize voters in November, and hold the line for border security, American industry, and support for our allies. If conservatives awake and organize now, this wave can be turned back at the ballot box; if we sit on the sidelines while radicals “conquer” blue states, the results will be decades of the experiments and failures that come with socialist rule.
