In a surprising turn of events, Chris Cuomo, a host on the liberal CNN network, took aim at President Joe Biden for his apparent lack of response to a toxic chemical spill in Ohio. Cuomo, known for his bias towards the left, criticized Biden for flying over the site of the spill on his way to a fundraiser, without taking the time to address the emergency situation on the ground. Even Ohio’s Republican Governor, Mike DeWine, had requested an emergency declaration from the President to assist the affected people. It seems that Cuomo couldn’t help but point out the hypocrisy of his own party, suggesting that Biden should have at least provided a reason for not signing the emergency declaration.
It’s refreshing to see a liberal media personality like Cuomo acknowledge the importance of actions over words. He emphasized that Biden, as the President of the United States, should be offering transparency and reasons for his decisions. Despite East Palestine being a heavily Republican area, Cuomo stressed that it was crucial for Biden to prioritize the needs of all Americans, regardless of their political affiliations. Yet, it seems that Biden chose to continue with his fundraising in San Francisco rather than addressing the concerns of the Ohioans affected by the spill.
Cuomo’s comments highlight a potential rift within the Democratic Party. While most of CNN’s coverage typically praises Biden, Cuomo’s criticism demonstrates that there might be dissent brewing behind closed doors. Rumors have circulated about Democrats wanting to remove Biden from the 2024 ticket, and this bold move by Cuomo could be a sign of a shifting narrative among leftist media members. It’s possible that even they are starting to see the writing on the wall and recognize the need for action from the Biden administration.

But the criticism doesn’t end there. A growing chorus of voices, including Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls, has called out Biden for neglecting to visit the border, another pressing emergency that his administration has failed to address adequately. As Biden travels to Arizona, it is disappointing to witness his disregard for the border crisis, which affects the lives of countless Americans, as well as the integrity of our immigration system. The fact that even a staunch liberal like Cuomo is finding fault in Biden’s actions further underscores the severity of the situation.
It’s encouraging to see some members of the media finally starting to hold President Biden accountable for his lackluster response to emergencies. While it may be too early to tell if this signifies a broader shift among left-leaning individuals, these criticisms serve as a reminder that actions speak louder than words. President Biden must understand that being the President of everybody means serving all Americans and not solely those who may offer their vote or financial support. Trust is earned through action, and it’s about time Biden starts living up to his promises.
