In a stunning display of Republican backbone, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy refuses to let the Senate’s continuing resolution come to a vote. You can practically hear the cries of anguish from the Democrats who were hoping to push through their reckless spending agenda without any opposition. But not so fast, Schumer and company – McCarthy is here to save the day.
During a closed-door meeting with his fellow Republican caucus members, McCarthy made it clear that the Senate’s bill is as good as dead. And thank goodness for that! We can’t have our hard-earned tax dollars going towards things like increased border security, can we? It’s about time someone in Congress stood up for the American people and put a stop to this wasteful spending.
One Virginia Republican, Rep. Bob Good, wholeheartedly supported McCarthy’s decision, stating that there is “no way the House would pass that bill.” Good also called on McCarthy to make it known to the public and the Senate that the bill is dead on arrival. Bravo, Rep. Good! Finally, a politician who understands that we need to take a stand against these out-of-control spending measures.
But it’s not just Republicans who are fed up with the Senate’s bill. Florida Democratic Rep. Byron Donalds chimed in, saying that the bill is “dead over here.” Donalds, however, conveniently forgot to mention the $6.2 billion in funding for Ukraine that the bill includes. It’s no wonder he’s upset – he must be disappointed that the bill doesn’t do more to secure our own southern border. Maybe if the Democrats spent less time appeasing foreign countries, they would realize that our national security should be our top priority.
The House needs to pass our spending bills to rein in out-of-control spending and close our border, then let Chuck Schumer explain why he would rather shut down the government than shut down the border.

And just when you thought McCarthy couldn’t get any better, he’s willing to compromise on one condition – stronger border security. Finally, someone with some common sense! If we’re going to fund the government, let’s make sure we’re prioritizing the safety and security of our own citizens. It’s refreshing to see a politician who actually cares about the American people and isn’t afraid to take a stand.
In the midst of all the chaos and partisan bickering, McCarthy is shining through as a true leader. He understands that we can’t continue down this path of reckless spending and neglect of our borders. It’s time for Congress to come together and do what’s best for the American people, even if it means standing firm against the Democrats’ outrageous demands. McCarthy is ready to make a deal, but only if it includes stronger border security. Let’s hope the rest of Congress follows his lead and puts America first.
