Welcome to the sports desk of RedState, where Jerry Wilson is hard at work providing the latest sports news. Today, we’re talking college football, which has taken the spotlight away from the NFL for just a moment. College football’s first full weekend is here, and while there may not be many marquee matchups, there are still some interesting games to watch. One game that caught our attention was the match-up between the Colorado Buffaloes and the 17th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs. The Buffaloes, who have been a punching bag for years, pulled off a stunning victory with a score of 45-42. How did they do it? Well, they have a secret weapon: Deion Sanders. That’s right, Sanders, the legendary NFL player-turned-coach, has transformed the Buffaloes into a force to be reckoned with. With his coaching skills and the new rules that allow college players to switch schools, Sanders has turned the Buffaloes into a winning team. It’s a remarkable turnaround that has caught the attention of college football fans everywhere. Who knows, maybe the Buffaloes will become a powerhouse team once again.
Jerry also gives us a preview of upcoming college football games. Unfortunately, there aren’t many exciting match-ups on the horizon, but one game to watch is the clash between Ole Miss and Tulane. And of course, the Texas Longhorns will be taking on Alabama, which should be interesting as it will give them a taste of what’s to come when they join the SEC next year. In other words, it’s time for them to put on their big boy pants and face some tough competition.
Switching gears to baseball, Jerry fills us in on the latest playoff picture. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are in danger of missing the postseason, much to the delight of some fans. But with the expanded wild card, there are still plenty of teams fighting for a spot. The American League West is heating up, with the Seattle Mariners leading the way. The National League Central is also up for grabs, with the Chicago Cubs trying to catch up to the Milwaukee Brewers. And in the wild card race, it’s a free-for-all in both leagues. It’s going to be an exciting end to the regular season.

Finally, Jerry gives us a little update on other sports happenings. The hottest ticket in town right now is the match between Lionel Messi and Inter Miami FC against LAFC. Tickets are selling for over $600, and you can bet that everyone in LA wants to be there. Well, maybe not everyone, but at least a few actual soccer fans will be in attendance.
That’s all for now from the sports desk of RedState. Stay tuned for more updates on your favorite games and teams. And as always, go Buffaloes!
