Democrats Abandon Biden Legacy Elevate Kamala Harris Amid Laughter and Doubts

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have taken a bold step that suggests the Democratic Party has officially jumped off the ship that is Joe Biden’s presidency. With Biden’s recent withdrawal from the 2024 race—broadcasted from the questionable confines of his social media platform—the baton has been passed to none other than Kamala Harris. This decision transforms Harris from the fairly obscure vice president nobody particularly talks about into the main act of the Democratic show. It’s almost like the Democrats decided that rebranding a collective failure is what they do best.

The endorsement extravaganza didn’t kick off without its fair share of hiccups. There’s a good laugh to be had when one realizes that Schumer, in endorsing Harris, stumbled over her name in what can only be described as a delightful display of incompetence. Was that a quick slip or genuine ignorance? Given how the Democrats have a history of flipping the narrative on everything, it’s hard to tell. Does this mean Schumer is now a racist in their eyes, or have they lowered the standards on that in light of their own mess?

The moment Schumer stood up to deliver what can only be termed a “please clap” moment, it became evidently clear that enthusiasm for Harris isn’t exactly setting the Democratic base on fire. His remarks about Harris securing “the majority of delegates” sound almost laughable considering she’s been the invisible vice president who hasn’t even seen the inside of a voting booth during these primaries. Just how engaging do you have to be to inspire laughter instead of applause from your own party? One can only hope that the Democrats’ interpretation of party unity doesn’t include laughing at its own leaders.

In what must be humorous to anyone outside the Democratic circle, Schumer speaks of a “surge of enthusiasm” for Harris. One wonders where this enthusiasm might be found. Polls show that if Harris and Trump were to go head-to-head, Trump would win in a landslide among key voting demographics. Not only does this make Schumer’s claims of unity feel more like a concocted fairy tale, but it further solidifies the notion that the Democrats are still miles away from providing a candidate that resonates with the American electorate.

The grand finale comes when Schumer attempts to frame Trump’s popularity as “dangerous to our democracy.” Meanwhile, the only real danger appears to be the Democratic Party’s attempt at convincing Americans that elevating Kamala Harris is anything but a last-ditch attempt to hold onto power. Schumer’s brain gymnastics attempting to justify this backward metamorphosis from Biden to Harris only leads to questions rather than applause, especially with reporters challenging him on the very nature of democracy itself.

As the Democrats continue to flounder with their new nominee, it becomes starkly clear that even their own leaders can’t muster the energy to pretend all is well. And while Schumer may persist in charming his colleagues about the so-called groundswell of support for Harris, questioning her viability will be key for many. With the kind of leadership the Democrats have showcased, it seems 2024 may be a very entertaining year.
