The festive season typically heralds thoughts of kindness, mirth, and goodwill, but it seems that for the current crop of Democrats, this year embodies a rather different theme—one of blatant mischief and hypocrisy. Many of these political operators ensconced in the D.C. swamp are embodying the spirit of “naughty.” Instead of focusing on the virtues associated with Christmas, they indulge in a year-round buffet of self-enrichment, sounding more like Scrooge than Santa.
The modern left has eschewed traditional values with a carefree shrug, likely encouraged by their ideological background. The notion is that moral values are mere tools wielded by the patriarchy to keep good folks down. And if engaging in shady dealings serves their interests, so be it. These politicians see themselves as brave revolutionaries, grabbing whatever they can get without a scrap of remorse, convinced that wealth is ill-gotten and belongs in their hands, not anyone else’s.
This mentality, reminiscent of the misguided “you didn’t build that” sentiment peddled by the previous administration, has created a culture where lawmakers believe that amassing fortunes by ignoring the rules is not just acceptable but heroic. Why not indulge in some “civic-minded” theft when the inherent values of capitalism are under attack? In their eyes, honesty is irrelevant in a system perceived as rigged. If caught red-handed, they simply rationalize it as leveling the playing field.
As voters hit the polls, they turned their backs on this elitist agenda, choosing instead to re-elect Donald Trump, a figure painted as the ultimate villain by the left. In an election deemed a watershed moment, the populace made a clear statement, rejecting the notion that throwing money and power into an ever-expanding government would remedy the nation’s woes. The irony of this election cycle is that while the left prepared for melodramatic reflections on January 6, they failed to anticipate its transformation into a celebration of Trump’s victory.

In what might be the final countdown for the current administration, Democratic leaders should face some wearisome realities. With Hunter Biden’s controversial pardon emblematic of a broader pattern of self-serving decisions, the imminent days leading up to a new presidency are likely to be filled with fanfare over dubious pardoning and outlandish abuses in ethics. It seems these “naughty” politicians will have themselves a merry little Christmas indeed, unfettered by the constraints of accountability or public scrutiny.
As January 20 looms, Americans will surely be keen to see what antics might unfold as politicians let down their hair and go full steam ahead in their tradition of brazen decisions. The left’s merry band of mischief-makers may think they are laughing all the way to the and-back-to-the-swindling trough, but average citizens see the reality and are ready with their judgment. So, while the holiday cheer abounds, keep an eye on the perils that await with the dawn of a new year.
