Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has spoken out against former President Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was rigged in favor of Joe Biden. DeSantis made his remarks during an interview with NBC News, stating that “whoever puts their hand on the Bible on Jan. 20 every four years is the winner.” He made it clear that Trump lost the election and that Joe Biden is the rightful president.
DeSantis’ comments came in response to a question about whether or not he believed Trump’s claims of election fraud. While DeSantis acknowledged that the election was not perfect, he firmly stated that Trump lost. He also dismissed the theories that the election was stolen, saying they “did not prove to be true.” DeSantis emphasized the importance of presenting a positive vision for the future and focusing on the failures of the Biden administration in order to win the presidency in the future.
However, DeSantis did express concerns about the 2020 election. He mentioned issues such as Mark Zuckerberg’s grants for election administration, mail-in ballots, laws allowing third parties to collect and return ballots, and the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story. DeSantis criticized the media and others for portraying the election as perfect and highlighted the need for Republicans to fight back against such actions.
When asked about the 2020 presidential election, Ron DeSantis agreed with President Obama that Trump lost, saying, “I've said many times the election is what it is. All those theories that were put out, did not prove to be true.”

In addition, DeSantis blamed Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic for the increase in mail-in voting, stating that it was a result of Trump turning the government over to Dr. Fauci and embracing lockdowns. He criticized the CARES Act for funding mail-in ballots across the country. DeSantis stressed the importance of Republican voters considering these factors when evaluating the 2020 election.
Overall, DeSantis made it clear that he believes Trump’s claims of a rigged election are unfounded and that Joe Biden is the rightful president. He acknowledged that the election had its flaws but also highlighted the need for Republicans to fight back against those flaws and present a positive vision for the future.
