Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, is continuing his obsession with Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida, prompting a response from DeSantis himself. Newsom has been publicly bashing Florida and DeSantis since the summer of 2022, calling the state a “bully” and claiming that it restricts people’s ability to love whoever they want. DeSantis, on the other hand, has been implementing policies that protect children from harmful and inappropriate practices.
Recently, Newsom has made baseless accusations that Florida’s laws are causing mass shootings and has even threatened DeSantis with kidnapping charges. Newsom has also been repeatedly demanding a debate with DeSantis, which DeSantis has now responded to in a harsh tone.

DeSantis has called out Newsom for “pussy-footing” around and trying to raise his national profile without committing to a presidential campaign. DeSantis has pointed out that Newsom should either declare a run for president and challenge Joe Biden or focus on his state, which is experiencing a mass exodus. Florida, on the other hand, is attracting more and more people every day, clearly indicating where people would rather live.
DeSantis has made it clear that he will not engage in a debate with Newsom until he declares his candidacy for president, which Newsom is yet to do. All in all, DeSantis has called out Newsom’s frivolous behavior and asked him to stop obsessing over Florida and start focusing on his own state’s issues.
