The Biden administration is seeking to have former Trump White House aide Steve Bannon begin serving a four-month prison sentence. A panel of judges rejected Bannon’s appeal in a recent ruling, leading prosecutors to request that he report to federal prison. The Department of Justice is urging United States District Judge Carl J. Nichols to enforce Bannon’s sentence for defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 Committee.
Bannon was convicted by a jury in July 2022 for failing to comply with the congressional subpoena, resulting in a contempt of Congress charge. He was sentenced to four months in prison last October. If the judge approves the DOJ’s request, Bannon will join another former Trump aide, Peter Navarro, who is already serving a four-month sentence for the same type of offense.
