Fauci Sheds Taxpayer Security for Private Detail Amid Financial Scrutiny

Anthony Fauci is set to stride into the new year as one of the highest-paid former federal employees in the country. The former COVID czar, however, has taken a few financial hits recently, particularly concerning his personal security detail that was previously funded by taxpayers. While Americans were footing the bill for his protection, he has now transitioned to hiring his own private security, which arguably plays into his fragile ego.

For the last two years, Fauci was surrounded by U.S. Marshals, racking up a staggering $15 million cost to taxpayers between January 2023 and September 2024 alone. Thanks to a recently obtained federal memo, details about this inflated cost have come to light, prompting many to raise eyebrows about where tax dollars were really going during the pandemic. Now, with the Marshals no longer at his side, Fauci appears to be relying on a private security guard, who he was spotted chatting with outside his D.C. home. Clearly, a little less government-funded protection won’t stop the man from maintaining a sense of safe grandeur.

Fauci himself is reportedly worth around $11 million, and his home is valued at about $2.2 million. With this kind of cash flow, one might say he could afford to keep a few guards on the payroll without too much worry about his finances. Add in his federal pension of approximately $414,000 a year and it’s safe to conclude that Fauci certainly doesn’t have to worry about booking a one-way ticket to poordom anytime soon. In fact, that annual pension exceeds President Biden’s salary, pretty impressive for someone who legally has no business being called a “leader.”

Of course, it’s hard to forget the controversy surrounding Fauci, especially given how many people were affected by his decisions during the COVID crisis. Public sentiment turned sharply against him once his dubious ties to controversial gain-of-function research were unveiled—research that many believe directly contributed to the pandemic. His recent need for security detail may hint at more ego than actual threat, as even far more significant figures in the government lack the same level of protection that he enjoyed. Those in Congress and even members of the Supreme Court seem to get by without needing a personal security army, showcasing that Fauci may have misjudged his own importance.

At the end of the day, the revelation that Fauci’s taxpayer-funded security has been curtailed sends a signal. The American public, fed up with bureaucratic extravagance, is starting to demand accountability. While many saw Fauci’s actions during the pandemic as driven by overreach and arbitrary authority, it seems the financial bubble around his lifestyle has started to deflate—much to the relief of taxpayers who are finally having a say in this never-ending saga.
