Attorney General Merrick Garland has made it clear that he is standing by his congressional testimony where he claimed that there would be no interference in the probe of Hunter Biden, as reported by Fox News. However, a whistleblower at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) who came forward on April 18 had information that contradicted Garland’s sworn testimony and alleged that the investigation is plagued with conflicts of interest.

Recent events have revealed that Garland, the “senior political appointee” in question, is reported to have been involved in this case. As previously reported in The Washington Post, Hunter Biden is currently under investigation for possible violations of tax and gun laws. Federal agents believe that they have enough evidence that can result in charges against him.
During an appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee in April 2022, Garland testified that there was no necessity for a special counsel to handle the investigation. Instead, he said that U.S. Attorney, David Weiss, who is a holdover from the Trump administration, was free to investigate.
According to The New York Times, investigators in this case are utilizing information from a laptop that belongs to Biden, which was discovered after being abandoned by him at a repair shop in Delaware. The New York Post previously reported on the contents of the laptop on Oct. 14, 2020. As confirmed by The Washington Post and The New York Times in March 2022, documents from the abandoned laptop were previously verified by the Daily Caller News Foundation in October 2020.
Garland has faced criticism over the allegations that the Department of Justice targeted parents who spoke out against school board meetings and targeted pro-life activists for prosecution over protests at abortion facilities. Additionally, there is widespread dissatisfaction at the lack of action from Garland regarding protests targeting conservative justices since the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.
It seems that the Attorney General is more interested in protecting Democratic politicians than upholding the law. The hypocrisy of those who claim to be above party politics is exposed yet again.
