Gen Z Women Shift Support to Trump Despite Democrats’ Celebrity Campaign Tactics

The Democrat Party’s strategy to woo Gen Z women in the recent presidential election appears to have flopped harder than a pancake on a greasy diner griddle. Reports show that a whopping 40 percent of eligible women under 30 chose to cast their votes for President-Elect Donald Trump. This marks the best performance for a Republican candidate among the youth demographic since 2008, as evidenced by exit polling from the Associated Press.

The Democrats threw everything they had at these young women, even sending Vice President Kamala Harris onto the popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast and trying to enlist A-list endorsements from celebrities like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. Apparently, pop star power isn’t as magical as they thought because these flashy tactics didn’t resonate. Instead of focusing on the issues most important to this demographic, Harris’s campaign fixated on the narrative that a Trump presidency posed a direct threat to so-called “reproductive rights.” Yet a mere 13 percent of under-30 voters cited abortion as their top concern, while 40 percent were more worried about the economy. It seems that high school economics classes might have paid off—turns out, young voters are actually paying attention to the state of their wallets.

In a stunning turn of events, Trump managed to win back the Oval Office, pulling off a feat last accomplished by Grover Cleveland in 1892. Talk about setting precedence! CNN exit polls reported that Harris maintained an eight-point lead among women voters, but that’s nearly half of what Her Majesty Joe Biden secured in 2020. Clearly, the Democrats’ dream of solidifying their grip on Gen Z women is crumbling faster than their promises.

Sabrina Karim, a professor from Cornell, commented that expectations were sky-high leading up to the election regarding how women would vote. However, she reminded everyone that women aren’t just a single entity thinking in lockstep. Instead, they bring a diverse set of concerns to the voting booth. Spoiler alert: economic stability and immigration turned out to be more pressing issues than a celebrity-wooed abortion debate, which the Democrats clearly missed altogether.

Adding another twist to this narrative, an NBC News exit poll revealed that Latino men overwhelmingly favored Trump over Harris, swinging the voting patterns significantly compared to the last election. On Election Day, 54 percent of Latino men cast their ballots for Trump, while only 44 percent supported Harris. That’s a substantial flip from 2020, when men of the same demographic stacked their votes for Joe Biden by a whooping 59 to 36. The Democrats might want to rethink their approach—celebrity endorsements and echo chambers may not hold up against the fundamental concerns of the electorate.
