The 2024 Republican National Convention had its ups and downs, but one glaring misstep overshadowed a mostly electrifying event. While attendees were treated to a heartfelt tribute to fallen heroes and an outpouring of love for Israel, the convention missed the mark by fixating too much on President Joe Biden instead of the broader Democratic agenda.
As the convention rolled on, there was no shortage of emotional moments. The heart-wrenching acknowledgment of the families affected by Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan left many reaching for tissues. The crowd erupted in applause when honoring the courageous Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who heroically sacrificed himself at a Trump rally. Each shout-out to Israel drew wild cheers, underlining the stark contrast between Republicans’ unwavering support for America’s ally and the Democrats’ reluctance to back Israel. It’s safe to say that if the Democrats touch upon Israel at their own convention, it might just come wrapped in a metaphorical apology.

However, how many times must Republicans learn this lesson? The focus of the convention seemed overwhelmingly fixated on Biden, with chants demanding his departure. It may have felt cathartic, but that’s precisely where things went wrong. The obsession with scoring points against Biden conveniently ignored the deeper malignancy posed by the Democratic Party and the radical Left. It should be called out: it’s not just Biden who needs to be addressed, but the dangerous ideology that has hijacked the Democratic Party.
Historically, it may have made sense to zero in on a candidate’s flaws, especially when the difference between parties was less pronounced. Yet, the stakes are now painfully clear. The Democratic Party has evolved into a formidable adversary, whose policies undermine the core values that Americans hold dear. It’s not simply Joe who must go; it’s the entire destructive agenda that his party represents.
The latest episode involving Governor Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania illustrates the point perfectly. Though he casually endorses school choice, the reality is that when push came to shove, he folded to pressure from teachers unions, which opposes those very efforts. With the vast majority of Pennsylvanians, including an overwhelming percentage of Black and Hispanic voters, in favor of school choice initiatives, Shapiro’s betrayal highlights the fact that the party line matters more than constituents’ needs. Shapiro may present himself as a moderate or accessible Democrat, but ultimately, he plays for the same losing team.
Republicans need to grasp that regardless of the individual running, when it comes down to policies and priorities, they all sing in the same choir. The crux of their message should reflect this reality: it’s not just Biden who needed to go, but the entire Leftist movement that has encroached upon American values. If the Republican Party seriously aims to secure victories going forward, they must sharpen their focus on the systemic issues posed by the Democrats instead of getting lost in the weeds of individual candidates. The message should resonate clearly: the Democratic Party is the real adversary that must be vanquished, and Republicans need to start playing to win against that.
