Gov. Hobbs Defies Law, Elected Officials in Shocking Abortion Power Grab

In a shocking display of disregard for the rule of law and the opinions of elected officials, Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona has refused to rescind an executive order that severely limits the prosecution of cases related to abortion. Attorneys from 12 of Arizona’s counties came together to appeal to Hobbs, urging her to reconsider this overreach of power, but it seems she’s more interested in pushing her radical pro-abortion agenda than upholding the duties and obligations of elected county attorneys.

The attorneys’ letter to Hobbs eloquently expressed their concerns, stating that the governor’s office should not interfere with the discretion of prosecutors in fulfilling their responsibilities as elected officials. It’s clear that this executive order is an unnecessary and unjustified infringement on the authority of county attorneys in Arizona. But will Hobbs listen? It seems highly unlikely.

Spokesperson Christian Slater, who I can only assume is not the actual Christian Slater from the movies, issued a statement on behalf of Hobbs, essentially saying that she will never back down from her fight for so-called “reproductive freedoms” in Arizona. What about the rights of the unborn? It’s alarming to see a governor prioritize the desires of extremists over the protection of innocent lives.

Just last month, Hobbs signed this egregious executive order, effectively shielding anyone involved in obtaining an abortion from facing prosecution. This means that local prosecutors are now banned from bringing charges related to abortion, and agencies are prohibited from assisting in investigations without a court order. Is this the kind of law and order we want in our society? I think not.

Hobbs’ grandiose statements about fighting for access to safe and legal abortion reveal a complete disregard for the values and beliefs of the people she is supposed to represent. Instead of focusing on the well-being of Arizona residents and upholding the sanctity of life, she is determined to expand access to a procedure that ends the lives of the most vulnerable among us.

It is imperative that we, as conservatives, continue to speak out against such flagrant abuse of power. Governor Hobbs may think she can trample on the rights of the unborn and marginalize the voices of elected officials, but we will not be silenced. We must stand firm in our convictions and fight for the protection of innocent life, even in the face of a governor who prioritizes political ideology over the well-being of her constituents.
