Kevin McCarthy (R-Ca.), a leading conservative Republican, has hit out at Hunter Biden’s recent sweetheart plea deal, insisting that it will only fuel further interest in the GOP’s probe of his business dealings. McCarthy has called for an inquiry into types of investigations as there can be a clear case of bias. The Department of Justice has recently closed its five-year investigation of Hunter Biden, which was looking into money laundering and unregistered foreign lobbying allegations related to business dealings in China and Ukraine.

Although the probe did not lead to any charges against Hunter Biden, Republicans are not complaining that Democrats will now try to exploit the situation as Joe Biden progresses with his re-election campaign. Nevertheless, top Republican investigator, James Comer, insisted that his party would continue the investigation, seeking to reveal the truth about President Biden’s involvement in his family’s schemes. Among several revelations, the House Republicans’ investigation uncovered millions of dollars in money transfers that went through a complex network of shell companies, raising suspicions of money laundering.
McCarthy has also taken issue with the Department of Justice’s recent statement of an “ongoing” investigation, despite Hunter Biden’s plea agreement, accusing it of being a diversionary tactic aimed at protecting the Biden family from scrutiny. Furthermore, the contrast in how Donald Trump, who is leading the fight against Joe Biden’s re-election, was treated by the Department of Justice compared to the leniency shown towards the President’s son, has been criticized for showing a two-tiered justice system.
There has been a public outcry in response to Hunter Biden’s plea deal, with many criticizing it as an example of a two-tiered justice system in America. McCarthy has called for a full inquiry into the matter, insisting that the DOJ should not be allowed to withhold information from Congress now that its investigation has concluded. McCarthy added that Hunter Biden’s plea deal is unacceptable, and should not stand, revealing that the Republican Party will not rest until all evidence of President Biden’s involvement in his family’s schemes is revealed. Overall, the conservative Republican side is not impressed by the outcome of the DOJ’s investigation and is ready to take matters into their own hands.
